Hace 2 días · He formed The Mindbenders in 1963, their name was taken from the 1963 movie "The Mind Benders", starring Sir Dirk Bogarde. Wayne took his stage name from Elvis Presley's drummer, D. J. Fontana. They signed a record deal with Fontana Records (no connection); formed in the '50s it was a subsidiary of the Dutch company Philips Records.

They hit the top of the US charts in 1965 for one week with the Clint Ballard Jr. composition "Game of Love" but were never able to repeat the success of the song.
