So basically, he quit. He quite literally walked away from Chappelle's Show midway through production of its third season. Whether this was an honest psychological breakdown or just a man doing what he felt he had to do in order to maintain his sanity, I don't know, but he essentially disappeared for a time.

Dave said he saw one of his white crew members laughing at his black pixie sketch in a way that made him uncomfortable, the laugh's tone sounded mocking and racist. That's one of the reasons why Dave said he left the show. But that just really bothers me. A comedian should be someone who doesn't get offended easily.
