Boy on a Dolphin is a 1957 American romantic adventure drama movie directed by Jean Negulesco and based on the 1955 novel of the same name by David Divine. It stars Alan Ladd, Clifton Webb, Sophia Loren, Gertrude Flynn, Alexis Minotis, Jorge Mistral and was distributed by 20th Century Fox. It was nominated for an Academy Award in 1958.

The Boy on a Dolphin was shot in 1957 and is now considered a classic. “I will never forget Hydra…one of the most beautiful places in the world,” said Loren in speaking to The New York Times recently.

Alan Ladd plays the part of an archaeologist who is trying to convince her not to sell the statue of the boy on top of a dolphin to a dubious art collector, played by Clifton Webb.
The best excuse to watch again this long forgotten film of the late 50s is the exquisite and gorgeous Sophia Loren. What a beautiful woman; a sight for sore eyes indeed! The Jean Negulesco film shows its age. This film has a little bit of adventure, love story, suspense with the backdrop of Hydra, one of the most enchanting Aegean islands.
