I think he could absolutely be described as conventionally attractive - fit, tall, symmetrical and strong features, his hair always looks good, etc. He's also incredibly talented and magnetic, which by itself would make him attractive even if he wasn't conventionally good looking.

However, in the last scene, after all appears to be forgiven, somebody takes a shot at him during a deer hunt. The figure is not revealed, and runs away before Maddy can identify him.
There are nuances in marriage and what is a deal breaker for some, it is not for others. Idk if he has cheated or not, prob yes, maybe no. "If" it happened, Hanne as his wife is the person who decided their marriage was worth the work, and Mads also looks like the type to have worked at it.
