So it seems only fitting that, 33 years on, the Doctor Who actor is fronting a documentary series — his first ever presenting gig — that chronicles other travesties of the British legal system.
Eccleston quit Doctor Who early in production, likely because of the director of Block 1, Keith Boak. They mismanaged the budget and schedule badly and the hours were long and uncertain. Keep in mind that at the time, Doctor Who was the biggest television production ever made in the UK—no one, cast, crew, or executives, had experience with something of that scale.
