Pete Townsend des Who adore le groupe depuis son 1er album et James Gang décide de lui dédier « Thirds », enregistré cette fois-ci dans trois studios différents (à Los Angeles, Cleveland et New York) au grès des dates de tournée.

Sure, that's a part of it. But also, sheer love of the music. Thirds has stood up to the test of time, and it sounds as good as ever. Four stars in a Texas desert night and highly recommended to fans of The James Gang, Joe Walsh, and '70s rock. Good cd good sound fast service.

Although it appeared that the James Gang was just hitting their stride, Walsh was growing increasingly disinterested with the group; he longed to launch a solo career. He managed to hang in there for another top-notch studio album, 1971's Thirds, which spawned an additional classic rock radio standard, "Walk Away."
