For 40 years, AYT (formally the Victorian Youth Theatre) has enriched the lives of young people through the compelling world of drama. Our alumni have gone on achieve success on stage and screen worldwide, with recent credits including the Year Of and Heartbreak High.
ATYP school holiday workshops encourage and engage young people from Kindergarten to Year 12. The Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) and Rebel Wilson have today announced the launch of a brand-new purpose-built theatre in Sydney: The Rebel Theatre. ATYP’s new theatre will be named in honour of ATYP Ambassador, Australian actor, singer, writer, comedian and producer Rebel Wilson, who has been involved with the company since she was 19.
This unit offers an exploration of theatre for young people and its audience, with particular emphasis on changing practices, theoretical perspectives, and performance styles in a contemporary context. Students will have the opportunity to gain experience in producing theatre for a young audience.
Created by Mary Anne Butler, CUSP is a love letter to the young people and landscape of Australia’s Top End, and a reminder of the inherent privilege of being able to make your own choices.
