Garland Jeffreys. Soundtrack: Thrashin'. He's been called an edgy urban poet, the sound of New York, a confessional singer-songwriter, and an explorer of the links between rock, race and rebellion whose work should be taught in schools. More than a dozen years had passed without an American album from Jeffreys when he came roaring back into the spotlight with 2011's The King of In Between.

He addresses issues like race as in the title song: “Here comes the One-Eyed Jack, sometimes white and sometimes black.”. An homage to his hero Jackie Robinson. Good record that has big production but didn’t do so well.
