That's to say that for a retro hack-'em-and-stack-'em horror flick that recalls countless similar movies from the 1980s, Blood Night demonstrates within its first few minutes more than a little potential, setting itself up to be fun film overflowing with tawdry sex and violence.
A group of teenagers celebrating Blood Night, the anniversary of the death of a local axe murderer, Mary Hatchet, suddenly find themselves face to face with the realities of her haunting. Ten years later, Mary escapes from the asylum, leaving a grizzly trail of bodies and blood in her wake. Gunned down by the police, Mary meets her own demise outside the sanitorium walls.
