"Iron Mike" O'Daniel was an U.S. Army officer who served in both the First and Second World Wars, rising to command the Third Infantry Division in Europe during 1944-45. After WWII he served for just over two years (June 1948-August 1950) as U.S. Military Attaché in Moscow, and also in various other positions.
