He started blue water fishing in the early 2000s, and then purchased the Rising Sons in 2010. After mainly tuna fishing, he decided to try his luck at tournament fishing in 2013. That year the team was able to break the Blue Marlin Alabama State record which was in place for 24 years with a 789 pound blue marlin.
