Although my book Midnight Riders (Little, Brown & Company, 1995) was the first full-scale biography of the Allman Brothers Band, I didn’t know Gregg the way I know some of the other members of the band. I interviewed him a few times, spent some time hanging out with him, but he was always shy and reserved.
