Appearance. The Common hill myna is a stocky jet-black bird, with bright orange-yellow patches of naked skin and fleshy wattles on the side of its head and nape. It is overall green-glossed black plumage, purple-tinged on the head and neck. Its large, white wing patches are obvious in flight but mostly covered when the bird is sitting.
Myna birds. The myna (also known as Indian, Calcutta or house myna) is a medium-sized (25–26 centimetres head to tail) but heavily built bird with mainly brown plumage. It has a dark brown to black head with a bright yellow patch behind the eye, and a yellow bill, legs and feet. The wing patch, under-tail covets and tail tip are white.

Mynah birds (Gracula sp. and Acridotheres tristis) originate from Africa, India, and Southeast Asia and are best known for their ability to talk and mimic sounds. They are lively, social birds and have wonderfully outgoing personalities. As young birds, they are easily tamed.
