And honestly there are tons of fantastic Justice League villains, Steppenwolf isn't even relevant in comics, and the only comic I even liked him in was new 52 Earth 2. Snyder should've chosen Kalibak, son of Darkseid, who at least looks visually interesting, and could have an interesting dynamic, or heck, even granny goodness and the furies if he was trying to do something specific.
