From all I can tell, James Gunn was angling for a slyly and subversively bawdy PG-13 parody, much like the 90s Brady Bunch movies. (I’m not sure if Raja Gosnell was going for too, but we know some of that stuff was filmed, before it got cut down for a PG a la Galaxy Quest.)
