23 de oct. de 2022 · Chocolatey. Chocolatey is a third-party Windows package manger and can be easily installed. Chocolatey is free but has a Business/Pro version that syncs with the “Programs and Features” list in Windows. The free version can be used to install and update software that was installed by Chocolatey but it will not touch software that it didn’t install.
While Chocolatey seems to have a huge selection of packages including some windows updates, Scoop has a much smaller selection mainly focused on command-line tools. However, it can be argued that Scoop is focusing on a different type of setup than Chocolatey so package count may not be a good comparison. Asad. Gharighi's Experience.
10 de dic. de 2023 · Dec 10, 2023. #4. winget can install & manage Store apps, but otherwise Chocolatey has a wider repository of supported packages. winget is terrible for scripting Windows post-setup installs, because it's an UWP app.
I've submitted a few pkgs to the winget repo, and I have to inform that winget also uses silent switches just like chocolatey does. The UAC prompt can be avoided by launching an admin shell. It doesn't work in the case that the pkg hash is different and you need to --force the installation.
