  5. John Paul Jones died in Paris in 1792 and buried in a local cemetery. His remains were exhumed in 1905 and returned to America aboard the USS Brooklyn escorted by three US Naval vessels. He was re-interned in a marble sarcophagus at the US Naval Academy Chapel in Annapolis, Maryland.
