Anne Isabella (1837–1919), usually called Anny or Annie, the eldest of Thackeray’s three daughters, became a respected and prolific author, and wrote extensively about her father. Of her sisters, Jane (1838-9) died in infancy, and Minny — Harriet Marian (1840–75) — was not given to writing.
