Clive Bell (1881-1964), Art critic (Arthur) Clive Heward Bell. Sitter in 29 portraits Art critic and writer. Bell read history at Trinity College, Cambridge where he met Lytton Strachey, Leonard Woolf, Thoby Stephen and others later associated with the Bloomsbury group. He married Vanessa Bell in 1907, and their home at 46 Gordon Square was the focus of the group.

Vanessa Bell (con apellido de nacimiento Stephen; Londres, 30 de mayo de 1879-Charleston Farmhouse, Surrey, 7 de abril de 1961) fue una pintora e interiorista inglesa. Miembro del Círculo de Bloomsbury , era hermana de Virginia Woolf , con la que tuvo una fuerte unión durante toda su vida.

The husband of Vanessa Bell, brother-in-law of Virginia Woolf and friend of John Maynard Keynes and Lytton Strachey, he is often depicted as a witness to historical events rather than a participant in them, a sort of modernist Forrest Gump.
Clive Bell also had other relationships, the most enduring of which was with the writer, Mary Hutchinson. Although Bell did not move to Charleston in 1916, he was a regular visitor.
