Erik Olin Wright (1947-2019) fue Vilas Distinguished Professor de Sociología en la Universidad de Wisconsin. Autor de multitud de libros, entre los que destacan Clase, crisis y Estado (Siglo XXI de España, 1983) y Clases (Siglo XXI de España, 1994), dirigió asimismo Real Utopias, un proyecto iniciado en 1991 que explora una amplia gama de propuestas y modelos para un cambio social radical.

Erik Olin Wright writes, instead, that real world examples of functioning social alternatives can help us find ways to improve the human condition. When history provides an opportunity to effect such changes, a familiarity with real utopias will provide a roadmap.
