Amery’s Strategic Thinking. Amery’s approach to appeasement should be placed in the context of his strategic thinking as a whole. This had four dimensions: rejection of a role in European diplomacy; development of naval strength; development of the Empire and good diplomatic relations with Japan and Italy.
