With Fairport’s Cropredy Convention 2020 being put on hold until 2021, there will be a huge hole in people’s calendars for the second weekend in August. In a small attempt to offer some consolation, we’ve been very lucky to have each member of Fairport Convention write for us in our Why I Love column.

12 de oct. de 1999 · Fairport Convention was in its early stages when guitarist and vocalist Simon Nicol agreed to join the budding British folk-rock band. Except for brief periods from 1972 to 1976 and 1978 to 1985, Nicol has provided the sole link to the group's first incarnation.

16 de sept. de 2017 · Named for founding guitarist Simon Nicol's house in the north London suburb of Muswell Hill, Fairport Convention was for a brief period in the late 1960s/early '70s a band bristling with potential. They rapidly became the leading players in the British folk rock movement which drew much of its material and inspiration from the folk music of the British Isles.
