JUDY HENSKE. One of the most eclectic early-1960s folk singers, Judy Henske started to use band backup and even drums on some of the recordings in 1963 on her second album, High Flying Bird. While Judy Henske was most widely recognized as a figure on the 1960s folk music scene, categorizing her strictly as a folk artist is inaccurate and limiting. Henske cut plenty of folk-oriented material (most notably on 1963's High Flying Bird), much of it very good, but her full-bodied, passionate voice and delivery were quite versatile.
5 de may. de 2022 · Judy Henske, a legend who made a name in the folk-revival scene of the early 1960s, died on April 27 at age 85 in hospice care in Los Angeles after a long illness.Her death was confirmed by her husband, Craig Doerge. Born in small-town, Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, December 20, 1936, Henske moved to San Diego in 1959 and began performing in local clubs and coffee houses.
