"Raw Deal" is listed as no. 25 in Eddie Muller's list of the 25 best film noirs. Muller is known as the "czar of noir" and I have learned a great deal from his commentary on noir film, and on this film. If anything, I thought Muller's rating a little low. This film was unknown to me and a sleeper, and I was glad to see it.
