31 de ene. de 2012 · No es la primera vez que Leo Castelli, hijo de un banquero húngaro y de una judía sefardí de origen español, se expone en la Juan March. Su contacto arranca desde finales de los años setenta con el préstamo de obras, pero la colaboración más estrecha se produjo en 1988 cuando él mismo acudió a Madrid a la inauguración de la exposición titulada Colección Leo Castelli.

Born Leo Krauss, Leo Castelli (1907-1999) was one of the more recognizable art dealers of the latter half of the 20 th century. The sheer breadth of his taste, encompassing everything from Surrealism to Pop to Minimalism to Conceptual Art and more, largely contributed to his notoriety and eventually made him a subject worthy of depiction in the very art for which he advocated.
12 de jun. de 2019 · Born Leo Krauss in the Italian port town of Trieste in 1907, Leo adopted his mother’s maiden name of Castelli from the age of 12. In 1932 he married Ileana Schapira, the daughter of an affluent Romanian industrialist, and with financial support from his new father-in-law, a young Castelli opened his first gallery in Paris during the spring of 1939.
