John Crowley’s novel “Aegypt” asks if the world could have a secret history encoded in legend and myth that could be found in how our brains are winded, The lead in the novel is a man named Pierce Moffett who has a knack for history but is relegated to a minor teaching job and watches from the sidelines as the great Parade of the 1960s passes him by.
John Crowley was born in the appropriately liminal town of Presque Isle, Maine. He teaches creative writing at Yale University. In 1992 he received the Award in Literature from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters. He finds it more gratifying that almost all of his work is still in print.
