From an early age, he started training his children to sing and perform. The brothers started off as a gospel quartet and the group was comprised of Ronald, Rudolph, O’Kelly, and Vernon Isley; sadly Vernon’s died in 1955 at only 13 years old. After the passing of their brother, the Isley’s momentum began to fade. This was a huge setback. The Isleys didn't let this get them down for long though, as they began to search for a label the next year.
