Mott the Hoople. Mott spent a couple of weeks rehearsing, and then went into the studios to record their debut album. Originally to be called Talking Bear Mountain Picnic Massacre Disaster Blues, it ended up as just Mott the Hoople.An album which, like all the others, illustrated the Mott dilemma: the hard-rocking live band that were never quite so manic in the studio.

But it had to be new. It had to sound like Mott The Hoople”. Not that they were completely breaking with the past.

Mott the Hoople were a British rock band formed in Herefordshire. Originally named the Doc Thomas Group, the band changed their name after signing with Island Records in 1969. The band released albums at the beginning of the 1970s but failed to find any success. On the verge of breaking up, the band were encouraged by David Bowie to stay together.
