Rising Sons was a five-piece band of which Cooder & Mahal were prominent members from inception in '64 to disbanding in '66. The "featuring" on this release is mainly due to their later success in their solo careers.
Tracks 18-20 contain new vocal tracks recorded by Taj Mahal, June 1992 in New York City. Two different versions of "Statesboro Blues" are contained in this collection. All selections are previously unreleased, except for "Candy Man" and "The Devil's Got My Woman"
