The original Yardbirds lineup didn't last long, and with those changes came the likes of Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page, who, in their own ways, each contributed to the sound and legacy of one of England's great musical institutions.

24 de jun. de 2023 · The future producer of Cat Stevens’ classic 1970s albums, Paul Samwell-Smith still clearly remembers the day he climbed the stairs leading to a flat above the Moulin Rouge café in the West End to meet the singer in his bedroom-cum-workroom. “There were tapes all over the place,” he recalls.
7 de jun. de 2023 · Paul Samwell-Smith’s notes for Wild World show only 10 of the available 16 tracks were used during the initial recording and later overdubbing sessions. The overdubs included the piano played by Stevens, the occasional double-tracked lead vocal, John Ryan’s acoustic bassline, bongos and two tracks of Harvey Burns’ drums.

3 de mar. de 2020 · Paul Samwell-Smith’s career has largely been spent behind the mixing desk as a hugely successful engineer and producer, but he is also acclaimed as a founding member of the Yardbirds. Back in 1963, it wasn’t the done thing to both play in the band and also have responsibility for the recordings; indeed, there were still recording studio staff wearing lab coats.
