History of Aiken High School. On February 23, 1888, the Aiken Institute was incorporated by an act of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina. The school opened its doors as a high school on September 17, 1888. The first students were required to pay a small tuition to help defray the cost of running the school.

I am honored to be the principal of Aiken High School! I started my teaching career as an English and Theater teacher at Blackville-Hilda High School, and I eventually made it back to my alma mater, South Aiken High School, teaching English. After 4 years of teaching, I transitioned to assistant principal at Aiken High.
