Elvin Ray Jones ( Pontiac ( Michigan ), 9 september 1927 – Englewood ( New Jersey ), 18 mei 2004) was een jazz drummer . Hij werd geboren als jongste zoon in een gezin van tien. Twee van zijn broers werden ook jazzmusici: Hank speelde piano en Thad trompet. In de jaren veertig begon zijn carrière.

Reconocimientos. En 1989, el National Endowment for the Arts honró a Hank Jones con su premio más importante en el ámbito del jazz, el «NEA Jazz Masters Award». [4] Fue también galardonado en 2003 con el «Jazz Living Legend Award» de la American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). [5] En 2008, recibió la «National Medal of Arts».
