They were one of the earliest bands to get a funk instrumental Top 10 pop radio with "Pick Up The Pieces" from their AWB.By the mid 70's the bands fortunes began to decline on both sides of the Atlantic as their sound became somewhat more artistic and album oriented.
After Robbie's death, Steve Ferrone joined to replace Robbie on drums and was the only black musician in the band. It became a standing joke in the band that they 'played' with the press because of their band name. The double album "Person To Person", recorded during their 1975 American tour, is among the best selling live Funk albums ever.
