Synopsis. In 1968 Alabama, a young boy goes to live with his grandmother following the death of his parents in Chicago. Slowly, the boy gets cheered up with his grandmother, buying him a pet mouse whom he names Daisy. One day, Charlie goes to buy a box of nails to train Daisy and to build a house for her as well.

De film is gebaseerd op de gelijknamige roman (Nederlandse titel: De heksen ) uit 1983 van Roald Dahl en is de tweede langspeelfilm van de roman, na de gelijknamige film uit 1990, geregisseerd door Nicolas Roeg .
