John Gorman. Brief bio –. John Gorman was born in Chicago in 1944 and grew up in Oak Park (for a while) and Aurora (mostly), Illinois. He was an English major—no surprise here—at Notre Dame and did his graduate work at the University of Virginia. There he and Margaret Doran were married, out in a field but with a priest, in 1972.
About John. Having enjoyed a fine playing career and with over 25 years under his belt as an elite coach, John Gorman brings a wealth of experience to Grace Football. A proud Scotsman, John came through the ranks at Celtic as a highly-promising young player alongside the likes of (Sir) Kenny Dalglish, Danny McGrain and Lou Macari.

Gorman, (Sir) John Reginald (1923–2014), soldier, policeman, businessman, civil servant and politician, was born on 1 February 1923 at Mullaghmore House, Omagh, Co. Tyrone, the eldest of four children of Major John Kearney (Jack) Gorman (1891–1980), an RUC officer, and his wife Annette Mary Josephine O’Brien (1891–1966). Both sides of the family were catholic and unionist.
