In what would become the first solo project of any member of Genesis, “Voyage Of The Acolyte” isn’t a radical departure from Genesis. That sense of similarity of Genesis’ sound was probably further reinforced by the presence of his band mates.

I highly recommend this 2016 remastered vinyl pressing of “Voyage Of The Acolyte”! The box set is wonderful, but optional ;) I suppose there is a high-resolution digital step in this fantastic sounding remaster, but if this causes one to avoid it just on principle, I think that would be a shame, as it was such an ear-opening revelation to hear it on vinyl with such sonic fidelity!

29 de ene. de 2007 · As things turned out, "Voyage of the Acolyte" was exactly what Hackett needed to release as this, in his own words, gave him the confidence to strike out on his own. What led to Hackett's departure from Genesis was that time and time again his own musical ideas were being shot down by Genesis members in favor of their own ideas.
