Hence this live album, which is mostly songs that don't show up on any of her studio albums, and which feels almost Talking Heads-style funky at points. Highlights are "Wedding Bell Blues" played in the originally intended arrangement, and the utterly fascinating "Japanese Restaurant Song", which would have been the centerpiece of any album it was on.

This excellent 1989 live CD was recorded and issued between Laura's 1984 "Mother's Spiritual" and 1993 "Walk the Dog & Light the Light" CDs, and it includes six and a bit songs that were never recorded in the studio.

The shows led to her 1989 release, Laura Nyro: Live at the Bottom Line, which included six new compositions. Her final album of predominantly original material was Walk the Dog and Light the Light (1993), her last album for Columbia, which was co-produced by Gary Katz, best known for his work with Steely Dan.
