Two versions of the film were released in Japan on April 16, 2009, with one edition releasing with a demo of the upcoming Final Fantasy game Final Fantasy XIII.It was later released in the US on June 2, 2009 and in the UK on July 27, 2009.

The Fusion Sword is one of Cloud 's unlockable weapons, and is based on the weapon from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. It is a random reward for redeeming a Treasure token, and is purchased from the Shop for 7,200 Gil. Like all other characters' weapons, having it equipped carries no advantages or disadvantages.
