Aside from her minor hit “First We Take Manhattan” – which was actually recorded before Cohen recorded his version – and in a minor degree the second track “Bird on a Wire”, the songs on Famous Blue Raincoat: The Songs of Leonard Cohen are lame and unmemorable. Jennifer Warnes does not by any means have a bad voice, but the arrangements and backing completely ruin everything here.
