Yuri Alekseyeviç Gagarin (Rusça: Юрий Алексеевич Гагарин; 9 Mart 1934 - 27 Mart 1968), Sovyetler Birliği pilotu ve kozmonotudur. Yuri Gagarin 12 Nisan 1961'de Vostok uzay aracıyla uzaya çıkarak Dünya yörüngesinde turunu tamamladı. Böylece uzaya çıkan ilk insan olmayı başarmış oldu ve bu başarısıyla birlikte uzay çağını başlattı.

After Komarov’s death in the Soyuz 1 accident in April 1967, Soviet officials felt justified in their caution and allowed Gagarin to fly aircraft only with a flight instructor.
