Nur kurz bevor er 1984 das Label verließ, um bei Polydor Records zu unterschreiben, wurde noch Small Town Romance veröffentlicht, auf dem verschiedene akustische Live-Aufnahmen von 1982 zu hören sind.

Thompson, who was a founding member of Fairport Convention, usually shows a strong inspiration in the traditional British folk music in his songwriting.

Hand of Kindness is the third solo album by singer/songwriter/guitarist Richard Thompson. It was recorded and released in 1983, after a ten year collaboration with former wife Linda Thompson. It is his first album of original solo material since Henry the Human Fly.
