Al Stewart (born in Glasgow, Scotland on 5 September 1945) is a British songwriter and musician. He is best known for his 1976 single Year of the Cat and its 1978 follow-up Time Passages (both produced by Alan Parsons).Stewart's inspiration for his songs primarily comes from the past; indeed, he is credited with creating his own genre, "historical folk rock".
26 de ene. de 2007 · When Al Stewart was a hit in the 70s, I did not pay attention. It seemed like belated folk-rock and a tad "bubble gum." Lately though, I was dragged to a supper club to hear him, and I was in shock. He demonstrates some of the greatest skill on steel guitar I have ever heard. His lyrics are intelligent, informed, thoughtful, and complex.

Although born in Greenock, [7] Al Stewart grew up in the town of Wimborne, Dorset, England, after moving from Scotland with his mother, Joan Underwood.His father, Alastair MacKichan Stewart, who served as a flight lieutenant in the Royal Air Force volunteer reserve, died in a plane crash during a 1945 training exercise before his son Al was born.
