Piastri made his karting debut in 2011 at the age of 9 before making his Formula 4 debut in 2016 at the age of 15. He would score two podium finishes in the Formula 4 UAE Championship with Dragon F4, finishing sixth overall. His first wins would come in 2019, when Piastri won the Formula Renault Eurocup with R-ace GP.
