Leben. Bill Paxton wurde in Fort Worth als Sohn von Mary Lou und John Lane Paxton geboren. Im Alter von 18 Jahren zog er nach Los Angeles, wo er sich als Dekorateur und Kulissenhilfe verdingte. 1975 stand Paxton für den Film Verrückte Mama das erste Mal vor der Kamera. 1981 wurde er von James Cameron für den Film Galaxie des Schreckens für das Szenenbild verpflichtet.
