Yo La Tengo is about as close as you will find to Ultra Vivid Scene and I would be shocked if they were not a big influence on Yo La Tengo. You could play Joy by UVS and the go right into Painful by YLT and I doubt most people would know they are different bands. Painful is one of those CDs you listen to from beginning to end.
