  2. 1 de ago. de 2006 · If you like Putney, be sure to check out Downey Sr.'s later work Hugo Pool (2006) which is also rather bizarre. And finally, I stumbled on a Dudley Moore film, Crazy People (1990) which almost seems like it's an homage or a sequel to Putney Swope. Check it out as well.

After the CEO croaks during a boardroom meeting at a Madison Avenue ad agency, members trying to sabotage each other's chance of winning the top spot each vote for the token black guy, thereby electing Putney Swope.

  4. Putney Swope was racist, a bit crude, but no one can say that it isn't one of the most (if not the only) provocative movies of the year. Everyone should go see it.

  6. It’s like if David Lynch and the Coen Brothers made a Troma movie. Checked IMDB and Wikipedia expecting all sorts of background on the making of it but there is very little. Compared to Eraserhead, El Topo, I Am Curious Yellow, and other “midnight movies” of that era there doesn’t seem to be as big of a following.
