Two recent graduates of Catholic University in Washington DC, went to the audition in New York for Joe (1970). Chris Sarandon, who had studied to be an actor, was passed over.
Sarandon then found prominent work on television, starring in movies-of-the-week like "A.D." (NBC, 1985) and "Women of Valor" (CBS, 1986), before getting back on track in features playing one of three women - along with Cher and Michelle Pfeiffer - who fall prey to the temptations of Satan (Jack Nicholson) in "The Witches of Eastwick" (1987).
