The Beatles spent much time rehearsing and improvising the song, with Paul McCartney at the piano suggesting ideas to the others in the group. Eventually they recorded three takes of the basic rhythm track: two guitars, piano and drums.

From "Magical Mystery Tour" (A/1) thru "Strawberry Fields Forever" (B/2) this is one of the best sounding Beatles Mofis of them all. It's a tragedy that the wrong masters were used and the last 3 songs don't sound good at all. That doesn't stop me from really enjoying 2/3 of one of my favorite Beatles albums at it's absolute best.
