I'm just freaking confused that Gone Girl wasn't even nominated for best picture. By far the best movie I've seen recently (if not ever), but it didn't follow the typical "Oscars formula" - long, slow, boring, and set before the 2000s and full of big name actors talking and doing very little - so it loses out to, as u/Sanity0004 pointed out, "typical boring biopic Oscar bait".
