John Martyn, nome d'arte di Iain David McGeachy (New Malden, 11 settembre 1948 – Thomastown, 29 gennaio 2009), è stato un cantautore e chitarrista britannico. Spaziava dal folk al blues al jazz e il suo stile era caratterizzato dall'uso della voce come strumento musicale.
Altri gioiellini, dove emerge il virtuosismo e la tecnica strumentale, sono il Guitar Solo, che segue a ruota Jelly Roll Baker, e la lunga e articolata Outside In (da "Inside Out" del 1973). . Dopo i fasti degli anni '70 John Martyn visse lunghi e travagliati periodi, anche a causa di seri problemi di salute, parallelamente ad un lento e progressivo declino artistico.
